Why Incorporate?

Incorporation gives a community the power to self-govern and make decisions that directly affect its residents. Here in Mead, we believe it's time we take the reins and drive our future.

Benefits of Incorporation

  1. Local Control
Incorporation allows us to make decisions at a local level. This means we can prioritize our community's specific needs and values, and react quickly to the issues that matter most to us.

  2. Financial Benefits
As an incorporated city, we can directly benefit from our tax dollars. This allows us to fund necessary infrastructure improvements and services in our community.

  3. Community Identity
Incorporation helps to preserve and enhance our community identity. It allows us to maintain the unique character and charm and makes Mead special.

Incorporation Process

Here's a brief outline of the steps we need to take to achieve incorporation:

  1. Petition: A petition to incorporate needs to be signed by at least 10% of the registered voters in the area.

  2. Feasibility Study: A study is done to determine if the area has the financial means to support itself as a city.

  3. Approval: The proposal must be approved by the county and then put to a vote. If a majority of residents vote in favor of incorporation, the process moves forward.

  4. Election of Officials: Once approved, local officials are elected, and the new city begins its operation.
